CIEO “Learning is Fun！”Educational Short Video Creation Contest

This competition aims to collect high-quality, subject-based teaching, through the collection of short videos that can be anything from parent-child educational videos, to reading circles, to a full-out demonstration of an online class.  Our hope is to highlight the idea that education can be easily passed on through the medium of online videos.

We welcome you to sign up for our competition, to allow your talents to be discovered!

Competition theme

Learning is fun！

We are looking for creative videos that both entertain and educate their viewers.  By this, we mean that we hope the videos are able to pass on knowledge, while at the same time maintaining interest.  We hope that video-based education can allow for even more flexibility than what a teacher would normally be able to find in the classroom, and that we can showcase our skills through this medium.  Beyond this, sharing instructional and positive “at-home” interactions can also show us how to build a healthier home for our students, so we are encouraging CIEO families to also take part in this compeititon.

Participants

Who can compete?  Any of our Chinese and foreign teachers, as well as any students or parents who are a part of CIEO, and any social media “creators” who want to get involved to teach through video are welcome to participate.

Schedule and system

The video-creation contest will be divided into two rounds: the preliminary contest and the final round.

In the first round of the preliminary competition, after the works have been collected, the organizer's professional team will conduct preliminary evaluations and select no more than 100 excellent works to enter the second round.

In the final round, the selected works will be publicized in the form of online voting, view-counts, liking, and forwarding. Finally, the top prize, first prize, second prize, third prize and the shortlisted prize will all have a total score that is weighted as the votes they receive being worth 60% of their final points, with the amount of views the videos receive acting as the final 40% of the score.

Video Collection Period: From now until November 22, 2023

Preliminary Review: November 23-25, 2023

Preliminary Announcement: November 26-27, 2023

Final Round Competition: November 30-December 6, 2023

Award Announcement: December 8, 2023

Award setting

Top prize: 5000 yuan / person

First prize: 3000 yuan / person

Second prize: 2000 yuan / person

Third prize: 1000 yuan / person

Shortlisted Award: 500 yuan / person (all works entering the second round will be awarded "shortlisted Award")

? Content and subject requirements

1、With knowledge-sharing and teaching as the theme, the content should be healthy and positive , with no commercial advertisements allowed;

2、Videos should be fun and creative.

3、Subject must be about "education", "teaching" or "subject knowledge", or the video will be disqualified from competing.

? The scope of video content includes

1、 Teaching and sharing of K12 subject knowledge points (English, natural science, mathematics, art, music, history, etc.) at home and abroad;

2、Teaching methods and display of learning tools (i.e., mind-mapping, speaker pyramids, etc.)

3、Teaching and sharing of domestic and foreign family education (parent-child education, child training, parent courses, etc.);

4、Sharing of K-12 campus life (home school communication, student social interaction, community organizations, etc.) between China and foreign countries.

? Duration and format requirements

1、The duration of entries should be 1-5minutes;

2、High definition MP4 should be the main video format, with m4v, MOV, avi, flv, mpg, WMV and div acting as alternative formats;

3、The video shall have clear sound quality and smooth picture quality, and the resolution shall not be less than 720 * 576. If shooting by mobile phone, please adjust to the highest resolution;

4、Background music can be used. If there is commentary, subtitles (Chinese and English) are preferred.

? Other requirements

1、The video works are required to meet the theme of the competition;

2、The entries must be created by the participants themselves. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Participants should confirm that they have the copyright of their work；

3、The organizer shall not be liable for any legal liability arising from disputes over the rights of portrait, reputation, privacy, copyright, trademark, etc. in case of any such dispute, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the entry qualification and recover the award;

4、For the entries that have been shortlisted in the second round of the preliminary round, we will contact the contestants through the registration email / phone number within 5 working days after the announcement of the shortlist;

5、Once the entries are awarded, it means that the original author has authorized the organizer to obtain the rights of information network dissemination, broadcasting, reproduction, compilation, adaptation, translation and other rights of the entries. The original authors shall not authorize other third-party units or individuals to use the works in any form;

6、The original author can maintain the rights to their entries if they were not awarded anything in this competition.

Evaluation criteria of the preliminary contest

Adhering to the principles of fairness and justice, CIEO’s professional team will score the entries following the five aspects below, with a total score of 10 points.

1、Subject content (3 points)

Closely linked to the themes listed before the content is positive and healthy.  The video should also contain values found to be appropriate by educators and parents alike.

2、Creativity (3 points)

The content is not limited to one format, and is unique and profound.

3、Technical (2 points)

Video: the sound quality of the picture is smooth, the scenes connect smoothly, and the overall video feels professionally created;

Editing: the plot is refined, the highlights are prominent, the special effects are appropriate, the subtitles are clear, and the sound is properly matched;

Background music: matches the theme and follows the video well.

4、 Integrity (2 points)

The overall planning of the script is coherent and smooth, giving people a unique audio-visual enjoyment.

Competition method

1、Through the WeChat official account of the Canada International Education Group, send the keyword “register” to get the application form "CIEO Learning is Fun!" The registration form (internal version / external version) should be carefully filled in and sent to the designated email address of the organizer together with the video work files：
